Keep It Simple And Trust Your Instincts!
A few weeks ago I shared some reflections on my time at the Women’s Masters Ball Hockey World Championships in Prague.
I came away with a huge sense of pride as well as newfound confidence and a determination to banish my self-deprecation.

I want to share some more lessons I learned and have been applying across all areas of my life.
KEEP IT SIMPLE.
Like so many people I tend to over-think things.
I get into my own head and almost end up trying too hard to make an impact.
It’s a trait I think my 10-year-old son has inherited. He is scenario man. “What if this happens? What do I do? What should my teammates do?”
I tried to use some visualisation techniques to see myself in the midst of a winning game, but then all of a sudden, I’d see myself giving away a breakaway goal.
I had to shake myself - my mantra became JUST PLAY.
I said it repeatedly and it worked breaking down the negative thoughts.
Sometimes things become over-complicated when too much thought gets put into it.
It is better taking a breath and doing what comes naturally.
I have learned to trust my instincts and they have gotten me into opportunities that other people only dream of.
I work hard to make the most of those opportunities which is why I’ve earned the respect of those that matter most to me.
