Why Is Having A Routine So Important During Lockdown?
It’s very easy to fall out of a routine with everything that is going on at the moment - lockdown, anxiety, fear of the unknown, job uncertainty and lots of mayhem.
For us humans to adapt to something none of us have ever experienced before, it’s important to try and hold on to aspects of what we would call ‘normality’.
To do something that keeps our minds at ease and makes us forget about all the chaos going on around us.
Having some sort of daily routine will enable us to carry on with our lives and help us adapt to what is becoming the new normal.
Tiny aspects of life like waking up before a certain time or even just getting dressed for the day is part of a routine.
Having three nutritious meals a day, getting social interaction - even if it’s just a quick phone call to a friend or family member - getting at least eight hours of quality sleep at night, controlling the amount of time spent looking at screens or doing some form of exercise.
These are all ways that contribute to having a daily routine.
It’s important that as individuals we don’t compare ourselves to others. Everyone’s lives are different so our routines are likely to be very different as well.
A routine will enable us to keep control of our stress levels and increase productivity within our day whilst simultaneously creating good habits and having more time to relax and do the things you enjoy most.
